Avenue, Persian Gulf

Client: Fenwick Iribarren Architects / DAR Engineering
Location: Persian Gulf
Type: Infraestructure, Avenue
Scale: 7 km
Status: On site

Fenwick Iribarren Architects and Spacecoop have designed a new “city-scale” Avenue in the Persian Gulf. The design is based on an urban “Wadi” (dry river bed) concept and is used symbolically to link the desert to the city. The Avenue will become one of the major green spaces in the city integrating activities and artworks for all users types through a series of organic and urban spaces. Verdant sustainable planting swathes and formal tree / palm lined roads reduce ambient temperatures / urban heat gain.
