A new public square was designed in front of the General Courts in Riyadh to respond to the complex surrounding urban realm and to the unique façade. The landscape penetrates the façade and creates verdant shady courtyards that are embedded into the architecture as private oasis that are designed to give the impression that they preceded the built form around them. Outside shady raised parterres form pocket parks to be used by the neighbours and local people. The landscape design embraces the adjacent public realm but creating it’s own particular identity.
